Grade Grade 1
This Ethiopia Sidama Grade 1 Natural green coffee comes from Tega & Tula, an Ethiopian specialty coffee producer, processor, and exporter. Grown between 1,900 and 2,100 masl, the lot comprises Ethiopian heirloom varieties and is processed as a natural, with the coffee dried inside the whole cherry.
Black cherry and orange lead the cup, followed by brown sugar sweetness, lavender, and black tea. Dark fruit gives the profile its main character, with citrus and floral notes adding detail alongside the sweetness.
Available in a 60kg bag with Grainpro protection, this lot is for roasters sourcing Sidama natural coffee, this green coffee offers a combination of cherry, citrus, and tea notes worth evaluating together.
Grade 1 adds useful preparation context to this lot. Ethiopian coffee grading considers both the green coffee and the cup, including physical defects and sensory evaluation. It gives buyers another reference beyond origin and processing.
Tega & Tula works through its own farms and washing stations, combining estate production in Kaffa, Gesha, and Anderacha with regional selections such as Sidama. Its experience extends to both growing coffee and preparing lots from other producing areas in Ethiopia.
Ahadu Woubshet was part of the founding executive team at the Ethiopian Commodity Exchange before investing in coffee farming. Since taking direction of Tega & Tula in 2015, he has developed the estate for specialty coffee production, with professional farm management and infrastructure planned around the surrounding environment.
The original farms take their names from the neighbouring villages of Tega and Tula, where many estate employees live. The business has supported local school programmes and funded scholarships for young women continuing their education, specific commitments that connect its work in coffee with the communities around the farms.
Tega & Tula began farming in Kaffa, southwestern Ethiopia, and also grows coffee in Gesha and Anderacha. Its farms are located in the Kaffa and Sheka biosphere reserves, where coffee grows alongside forest. The company also works with coffees from other regions, including Sidama, through its washing stations.
Tega & Tula manages its own farms, processing facilities, and coffee exports. This keeps the team involved in growing and preparing its estate coffees, as well as processing lots from other producing areas. Each coffee has its own growing location and preparation details, which help buyers understand the lot they are evaluating.
