Arbegona has earned a reputation for producing some of Sidama's most expressive natural coffees. Grown at elevations of up to 2,500 masl, traditional Ethiopian heirloom varieties mature slowly before being dried as whole cherries, developing the vibrant fruit character, sweetness, and complexity that have made natural Ethiopian coffees a favourite among specialty roasters.
This lot is graded Grade 1, Ethiopia's highest export classification, and is sourced through Tracon Coffee, where every lot is carefully sorted, cupped, and prepared before shipment. The result is a traceable Ethiopian green coffee that captures the character of its origin while delivering the consistency and quality specialty coffee roasters expect.
For more than 30 years, Tracon Coffee has worked with coffee-growing communities across Sidama, Yirgacheffe, Guji, Limu, and other renowned coffee regions in Ethiopia. Alongside coffee from its own farms, the company partners with a trusted network of smallholder producers and operates its own washing stations, dry mills, and export facilities, allowing every lot to remain traceable from origin to shipment.
Before a coffee leaves Ethiopia, each lot is cleaned, sorted, cupped, and prepared by Tracon's in-house quality team. By overseeing every stage from processing to export, Tracon helps preserve the unique character of each region while delivering the consistency, traceability, and preparation standards specialty coffee roasters expect.
Arbegona is one of the highest coffee-growing districts in Ethiopia's Sidama region, with coffee cultivated between 2,250 and 2,500 meters above sea level. These elevations create cooler temperatures that slow cherry maturation, allowing the fruit to develop gradually before harvest. This extended growing cycle contributes to the density and sweetness that have become characteristic of coffees from the area.
The region's fertile volcanic soils and high-altitude landscape provide favorable conditions for traditional Ethiopian heirloom varieties. Together, these natural conditions help shape coffees with a distinctive regional identity, making Arbegona an important part of Sidama's specialty coffee landscape.
