Through its network of washing stations and long-term partnerships with coffee-growing communities, Daye Bensa focuses on the quality and traceability expected by specialty coffee roasters.
In the cup, this G2 Yirgacheffe Washed presents notes of honey, lemon, citrus, black tea, floral aromatics, stone fruit, and gentle spice. Expect a vibrant cup with bright acidity, a tea-like body, and a clean finish that performs well across both filter and light-to-medium espresso profiles.
Available in 60 kg bags with GrainPro for freshness, this Ethiopian green coffee is a great choice for coffee roasters looking for washed Ethiopian coffees, with the profile that has made Yigarcheffe one of the most renowned coffee origins.
One of the things that makes Yirgacheffe so unique is its incredible diversity of traditional Ethiopian heirloom varieties. Rather than relying on a single cultivar, coffees from the region are shaped by generations of local selection, giving each harvest its own character while preserving the bright, floral, and expressive profiles that have made Yirgacheffe coffee a favourite among specialty roasters.
This coffee is sourced through Daye Bensa Coffee, one of Ethiopia's leading specialty coffee producers and exporters. Working directly with coffee-growing communities and its own network of washing stations, Daye Bensa oversees every step from processing to export. That close involvement helps deliver the traceability, consistency, and quality roasters expect, while allowing each lot to reflect the character of its origin.
Coffee has always been at the center of Daye Bensa. Founded by brothers Asefa and Mulugeta Dukamo, the company began as a coffee producer in Ethiopia's Bensa district before gradually expanding into processing and export. What started with coffee grown close to home has evolved into a network that connects thousands of farming families with specialty coffee buyers around the world, while remaining rooted in the landscapes where the company first began.
As the company expanded, so did its investment in coffee preparation. Today, Daye Bensa operates dozens of washing stations, dry mills, quality laboratories, export facilities, and its own farms across southern Ethiopia. This growth has never been about increasing volume alone, but about strengthening every stage of production so coffees from Sidama, Bensa, Yirgacheffe, Guji, and other regions can express their individual identity while meeting the expectations of specialty coffee roasters.
Ethiopia is widely recognized as the birthplace of Arabica coffee, where coffee cultivation remains deeply connected to the country's landscapes and farming communities. Across the country's highlands, millions of smallholder farmers cultivate coffee on family-owned plots, often combining generations of local knowledge with traditional farming practices that have shaped Ethiopian coffee for centuries.
Rather than being defined by a single growing region, Ethiopian coffee reflects a remarkable diversity of environments. From the forests and mountains of the south to the elevated plateaus of the west, differences in altitude, rainfall, soils, and local heirloom varieties allow each region to develop its own distinct identity. Together, these landscapes have established Ethiopia as one of the world's most diverse and influential coffee-producing countries, with regional profiles that continue to inspire specialty coffee roasters around the globe.
