Grade SHB EP
Meet our Sereno SHB Washed, it comes from the AntiguaValley in Guatemala, one of the country’s best known coffee regions. Grown between 1,500 and 1,800 masl, this washed coffee is a blend of caturra, bourbon and catuai, varieties that have shaped Antigua’s classic cup profile for generations. The distinct wet and dry seasons in the region create ideal conditions for producing amazing coffees.
This Guatemalan coffee has notes of brown sugar, cocoa, dried fruit, berry, and subtle citrus, supported by a sweet profile, medium body, and a clean finish. The washed process brings clarity to the cup while allowing the coffee's sweetness and fruit character to come through.
Available in 69 kg bags with GrainPro for freshness, this Guatemalan green coffee is an excellent choice for specialty coffee roasters looking for a classic Antigua washed coffee with a sweet and balanced profile that is great for single origin servings or in an espresso blend.
Antigua has long been one of Guatemala's benchmark coffee regions, known for producing balanced, sweet coffees with bright acidity and chocolate-forward profiles. This lot brings together coffees from smallholder producers across the valley, creating a regional blend that captures the character Antigua has become known for while delivering consistency from harvest to harvest.
The coffee is graded SHB EP (Strictly Hard Bean, European Preparation), a combination that reflects both where it's grown and how it's prepared. High elevations contribute to slow cherry development, while the additional sorting required for EP helps ensure a clean, well-prepared green coffee before export. The result is a classic Antigua profile that's versatile, reliable, and easy to build a roast around.
Coffee cooperatives play an important role in connecting Guatemalan producers with specialty markets around the world. By organizing growers around shared infrastructure and export preparation, cooperatives help individual farming families access technical assistance, quality evaluation, and international buyers while maintaining ownership of their farms.
Beyond market access, cooperatives encourage continuous quality improvement through shared agronomic knowledge, centralized milling, and standardized preparation practices. This collaborative structure helps strengthen both coffee quality and long-term resilience across Guatemala's coffee-growing communities while preserving the diversity of regional origins.
The Antigua Valley is surrounded by the Agua, Fuego, and Acatenango volcanoes, whose volcanic activity has created the fertile mineral-rich soils that distinguish the region. Coffee is cultivated between 1,500 and 1,800 meters above sea level, where warm days, cool nights, and clearly defined wet and dry seasons provide favorable conditions for gradual cherry development throughout the growing cycle.
These natural conditions have helped establish Antigua as one of Guatemala's benchmark coffee origins. Together, the region's climate, volcanic landscape, and generations of coffee cultivation continue to produce coffees recognized for their balance, sweetness, and refined cup structure qualities that have defined Antigua's reputation among specialty coffee roasters for decades.
