Bourbon Longberry

Grown in the Coffea diversa garden in Biolley, Costa Rica, Bourbon Longberry is a natural mutation of Bourbon that stands out for its tall plants and exceptionally long branches. Its beans are long and slender, contrasting with the small, round shape of conventional Bourbon, and the reddish young leaves further distinguish it from the classic variety. Despite its medium yield, this micro-lot offers a rare and memorable expression of the Bourbon lineage.

On the cup, Bourbon Longberry is bright and aromatic, with notes of fresh herbs and delicate florals. A smooth body carries a vibrant citric acidity, resulting in a complex yet approachable cup. The flavors unfold gracefully, culminating in a long, lingering finish that highlights the subtlety and elegance of this unique mutation.

Available in 10kg Grain-Pro bags, this limited micro-lot is ideal for roasters seeking a rare and distinctive Bourbon variety. Bourbon Longberry from Coffea Diversa is a true testament to precision, care, and the pursuit of unique coffee experiences.

What is so special about this coffee?

What makes Bourbon Longberry so special is its rare origin and distinctive morphology. A natural mutation of the classic Bourbon variety, it produces tall trees with exceptionally long branches and elongated, slender beans: a striking contrast to the small, round shape of traditional Bourbon. Even its reddish young leaves set it apart, marking a genetic divergence that contributes to its unique cup profile. With a medium yield and careful cultivation at the Coffea Diversa garden in Biolley, Costa Rica, this coffee represents both rarity and refinement.

In the cup, Bourbon Longberry offers a bright, citric acidity balanced by floral and fresh herbal notes, delivering a smooth, delicate body with remarkable complexity. Each sip unfolds gracefully, leaving a long and lingering finish that captures the essence of this distinctive mutation. It’s a coffee that rewards curiosity — elegant, expressive, and a true reflection of Coffea Diversa’s dedication to preserving and celebrating the world’s rarest coffee varieties.

Coffea Diversa’s Six Step Practice

Coffea diversa’s innovative and eco-friendly six-step coffee cultivation process begins by pulping cherries the same day they’re harvested, ensuring the highest quality. Their unique processing methods—Washed, Semi-Washed, and Natural—enhance the coffee’s flavour profiles, while manual selection and careful drying guarantee consistency in every batch.

For maximum freshness, the coffee is stored in a specially designed cellar made of pine logs to protect against humidity and is packed in 10kg plastic bags inside jute sacks.. This approach, combined with Gonzalo Hernandez’ commitment to sustainable practices, sets Coffea diversa apart, delivering a distinctive and exceptional coffee experience.

About Coffea diversa

There is nothing similar to Coffea diversa. Like in a flower garden, where you would find many types of plants producing many different kinds of flowers, in the Coffea diversa garden, you would find many rare coffees. A unique place with the most extensive private collection of coffee in the world.

Founded in 2003 by Mr. Gonzalo Hernandez, Coffea diversa has two main gardens, one in Costa Rica and another in Guatemala. The Costa Rica garden is located in a very remote area in the Biolley district, right next to the largest nature reserve in Central America, La Amistad.
