From the renowned Coffea Diversa garden in Biolley, Costa Rica, this Geisha Winey micro-lot highlights the beauty and complexity of one of Ethiopia’s most storied wild varieties. With its tall, slender trees, elongated beans, and low yield, Geisha remains a prized rarity — and under the care of Gonzalo Hernandez, it finds new expression through innovative processing.
Processed using the winey method, this Geisha reveals a soft, delicate profile with floral notes of lavender, balanced by lemon, pineapple, honey and subtle hints of pipe tobacco. Its citric acidity, medium body, and silky mouthfeel give the cup both depth and refinement, while the cocoa-forward finish lingers gracefully.
Available in 10kg Grain-Pro bags for peak fresh quality, this limited micro-lot is ideal for roasters seeking to highlight a rare, high-scoring Geisha from one of the world’s most biodiverse coffee gardens. A true expression of Costa Rican craftsmanship and Coffea Diversa’s dedication to preserving and perfecting exceptional varieties.
Our Costa Rican Geisha Winey from Coffea Diversa is a truly exceptional coffee, scoring an impressive 93 points and showcasing the beauty of one of Ethiopia’s rarest wild varieties, perfected in Costa Rica’s most diverse coffee garden. Winey-processed, it reveals a soft and delicate profile with floral notes of flowering grass and lavender, balanced by cocoa, molasses, and subtle hints of pipe tobacco.
With its silky mouthfeel, gentle acidity, and lingering cocoa finish, this Geisha offers a refined cup that rewards slow brewing and patient appreciation. Grown in limited quantities at the Coffea Diversa garden in Biolley, every bag reflects the craftsmanship and innovation of Gonzalo Hernandez.
Coffea diversa is home to the world's largest private coffee varietal collection, with over 800 botanical coffee varieties. It is located in one of the remotest regions of Costa Rica. A region that is not traditionally known to produce coffee because it is geographically challenging. This region, however, has one of the best micro-climate soils and altitudes to grow coffee in the world. The altitude range at the Coffea diversa garden is 1200-1350 meters above sea level.
There is nothing similar to Coffea diversa. Like in a flower garden, where you would find many types of plants producing many different kinds of flowers, in the Coffea diversa garden, you would find many rare coffees. A unique place with the most extensive private collection of coffee in the world.
Founded in 2003 by Mr. Gonzalo Hernandez, Coffea diversa has two main gardens, one in Costa Rica and another in Guatemala. The Costa Rica garden is located in a very remote area in the Biolley district, right next to the largest nature reserve in Central America, La Amistad.
