Don’t miss out on this Kenya SL-34, grown in the volcanic soil of Finca Cascada in El Salvador. This specialty green coffee estate cultivates coffee at 1,275 meters above sea level. Farmers handpick the coffee at full ripeness, then ferment, wash, and sun-dry it. The estate holds RFA and Café Practice certifications, ensuring sustainable and ethical farming practices.
Cultivated at high elevations, this coffee benefits from efficient water drainage, which enhances its pronounced flavors. Its medium body and balanced acidity make it ideal for pour-overs, French press, and classic drip coffee. You’ll enjoy notes of dark berry, spices, bright citrus, cane sugar, chocolate raisin, and hints of caramel.
We sell our El Salvador Kenya SL-34 in 69kg bags with Grain-Pro packaging to ensure maximum freshness. Experience the exceptional quality and flavors of this premium coffee from El Salvador.
SL-34 is a Kenyan coffee varietal brought to El Salvador by the Borgonovo family. It is part of the Bourbon-Typica family and grows best at elevations of 1,500 meters above sea level and higher, especially with good rainfall. The coffee is traditionally washed, which brings out its bright acidity and complex flavour profile. This variety is highly esteemed in the specialty coffee industry for its exceptional quality.
The varietal traces its origins to French Mission Bourbon, which was introduced to Kenya in the late 19th century. Developed by Scott Laboratories (SL) in the 1930s from a single coffee tree in Kabete, Kenya, SL-34 is renowned for its high quality and ability to flourish in high-altitude regions and resist disease and blight.
At the Dante Gourmet farm, the Borgonovo family supports local farmers' children by sponsoring four football teams in the Talnique community. These teams involve 48-50 children aged 8 to 14 who train and participate in local tournaments. In collaboration with Banco Agricola, the municipality, and parents, they built a roof over the stadium at the Talnique Educational Complex to facilitate sports and cultural activities. Additionally, they organized ping pong tournaments to develop teamwork, integration, and discipline.
The farm partnered with non-profit organizations to deliver 400 pairs of shoes to children from the Talnique Educational Complex and San Carlos Village School. This support for their local community not only improves living conditions but also contributes to the education of professionals who later give back to the community.
Borgonovo Pohl acquired the Dante Gourmet farm shortly after they founded San Carlos Estate. Since then, Carlos Borgonovo and his family have brought five decades of coffee industry experience to ensure that they harvest coffee that is of high quality.
Their partnerships with local farmers and estates guarantee top-quality coffee beans. Dedicated to sustainability and environmental practices, they foster a thriving community.
