About Bella Vista Estate
This Estate traces its coffee-growing history to 1904, when Arnold André Vessel established the family's coffee business in Tres Ríos after arriving from Germany in 1898 and acquiring the property. For more than a century, the estate has produced and processed coffee entirely at origin in one of Costa Rica's most historic coffee-growing regions, an area internationally recognized for its balanced body, acidity, and aroma.
Coffee at Bella Vista is cultivated under shade in rich volcanic soils at elevations above 1,400 meters above sea level. Throughout harvest, only fully ripe cherries are selected before being processed at the estate's eco-friendly mill and carefully sun dried, preserving the clean and balanced profile associated with Tres Ríos.
Bella Vista's approach combines generations of coffee-growing experience with careful production at every stage of the process. By cultivating, processing, and drying coffee entirely at origin, the estate continues the tradition that has helped establish Tres Ríos as one of Costa Rica's benchmark coffee-growing regions, often referred to within the coffee industry as the "Bordeaux of Costa Rica."
